Outsider

A Massive thank you to Outsider for allowing us to use the John Lennon award winning song Understanding in the show.  If you have not come across this band yet maybe you should.  There are rumours around that they are intending to play a small private gig after the Saturday show but you'll have to check out their website to see if there's any truth in that.

They say its grim up north, but there’s a chink of sunshine in the form of emerging Blackburn band, Outsider. Hailing from deepest, darkest Lancashire, they may not have that Southern swagger, but they have the Northern nous to walk the walk and talk the lyrical talk.

Its fair to say these boys have grafted. Allergic to premeditated cash-ins, they’ve begged, busked, borrowed and e-bayed their worldly possessions for the last 4 years to build their own studio, and write, record and produce a sound that is very much their own.

Uplifting track, ‘Understanding’, the curtain raiser from their debut album ‘In Your Life’ impresses the most, delivering a lyrical melodic spiral that will strum in your ears for the rest of the year. Already single of the week in The Hitlist, this gargantuan orgasm of a pop song with a chorus as wide as the sky is destined to be insanely huge.

In fact the whole album is heaving with truly great standalone pop tracks. Growers like ‘Strain’ (check out the new video on You Tube), demonstrate just how the northern charm of these unlikely lads creeps up on you and you wont be able to resist them.

Yep, this band have spent far too long meaning so much to too few, not insignificant when you consider the frenzied devotion from their faithful elite. A quick peek at their massive Myspace following serves as adequate evidence and packed out venues from Portsmouth to Preston.
