Jesus is a City Fan
by Michael Dawson

Jesus is a City Fan by Michael Dawson.
Lukes life is like that of any other Manchester lad, He enjoys the footy, likes his job and plays in a band. But all that is about to change drastically.

It becomes aparent that during an official inspection of the Turin Shroud in 1978 stolen DNA samples were used to produce a healthy living child.
The three men involved have kept it a secret until now.
That child could be Luke?
Now the world’s media are closing in and they are calling him the “New Messiah”.  He believes he is just an ordinary guy but does he raise the dead and stop a war? Whilst his entire life is under a microscope he attempts to deal with more domestic issues closer to home.

"Jesus is a City Fan" is the ultimate parody of how todays modern media and fast food society trivialise fame, celebrity and religion

The Shroud of Turin
For decades, scientists, archeologists and historians have struggled to answer two questions: how old is the Shroud and how were the images made. If we could answer those questions, perhaps we could know if it really is the burial cloth of Jesus. Studies in 1978 seemed to suggest that it was the real thing. Then, in 1988, carbon 14 tests showed that it was medieval. But the carbon 14 test have been proven invalid. New scientific findings show that it is much older, possibly 2000 years old. MORE>>>

Although Jesus is a City Fan is a global story its really a Manchester story.  It features massive news and media events and it was vital that it had the manchester feel.  Because of this there was really only one man for the job.  Incredibly Key103's award winning head of news agreed to help us with the audio.  This was a massive boost to the show and gave it the authenticity it needed.  We are eternally grateful to Paul Lockitt of Key 103 Manchester for his enthusiasm and support.

Manchester City Football Club

"The only football team to come from Manchester" so the chant goes.  Not strictly true but city fans like to remind their rivals of the technical challenge they hold to the word Manchester.  Jesus is a city fan exploits the inevitable humor that would surround a news story like this in our city.  Sections of the performance allow the actors and audience to become the city faithful once more.  Football is one of Manchesters passions and as such its still a thrill to recreat in a theatre the terraces of your favourite club as they try to get one over on their biggest rivals.  Even though you know the end result it still makes the hairs stand on end. All together now  "Jesus is a city fan la la la laaaa
